Having a clear direction based on an organization's values and purpose provides a roadmap based on clear goals and objectives.  It enables the organization to set priorities and provides the basis for evaluation.

Once a library or other organization has created its plan, it can then focus on developing the physical space needed to implement its vision.  This can be a reimagining of existing space or a complete new facility.

With a clear vision for the direction of the organization, the next step is to identify the skills needed in a leader to achieve that vision.  First, the organization needs to understand its purpose and then identify the skills needed in a leader to reach that purpose, and then secure the ideal individual.
